Javea Grapevine Issue 177 - Javea Election Special | Page 3

Welcome to the The ELECTION SPECIAL EDITION of the Jávea Grapevine Highlights Magazine The main May edition of the magazine online with over 100 pages of news, info, event reports, embedded videos & photos is online at www.javeagrapevine.com as normal. You will also find this Special Election Highlights supplement online. We have had a lot of interest from some of Jávea’s political parties in participating in this issue of Javea Grapevine. Looking at the different policies and manifestos has been very interesting. It is a lot of info to cram into a single magazine - so where possible we have included links to websites and in the online edition, you will also find the various videos that have been made for this election. Some parties have not been able send me articles in time for this edition, so I have simply added the basic information that I hold for them. As the UK elections demonstrated, having gone to the trouble of registering, it is important to actually go and vote. If you haven’t voted in Jávea or Spain before, it isn’t as frightening as it first appears. You will see that each party has issued a list of candidates - to vote, all you need to do is select the list that you want to support and pop it in the envelope provided at the voting desk (you will find all the lists in the private voting booth). There is a full explanation of how the Campaign is run and how to vote, later in the magazine. As you will see over the next few pages, the Parties have published full lists of candidates - your vote is allocated to the party as a whole. The more votes a party receives, the more seats they will be able to fill on the Council. The number of votes a party receives decides how many of their party will represent us as Councillors - prioritised in the order that Candidates appear on the lists (which is decided before the election by that Party). This means if a party gets X number of seats, then their top X candidates are elected. Simples! The order of the parties in this issue is based solely on their current roles in the current administration - So Mayor’s party, Deputy Mayor’s Party - etc etc etc Gaile M Griffin Peers [email protected] FREE full colour Printed Editions of May’s Special Election Jávea Grapevine Highlights (sponsored by The SignShop) available c.19th May from Jávea Old Town Jávea Arenal Lencería Susan, Font Gestors, Quicksave, Networking, Correos, Clot Help Desk Lavanderia Los Delfines, Infinity International, Jávea Port And - Saladar Supermarket, Shoo La La, Lynn Cobb, (High St) Heaven Boutique, Varadero, Port Tourist Office Ermita Supermarket, Iceland
