Now the ‘present continuous’ – what someone is doing right now - or
as we often say in my classes – INGing it! First you need to know
the verb ESTAR – to be
ESTAR – TO BE
ESTOY
ESTÁS
ESTÁ
I am
you are
he/she is
ESTAMOS
ESTÁIS
ESTÁN
we are
you all are
they are
Then you need the ‘Gerund’ or ‘Gerundio’ the ‘ING’.
Forming this is really simple - for regular verbs just drop the AR/ER/
IR at the end of the verb and replace it with ANDO or IENDO as
shown:
TRABAJAR- TRABAJANDO
COMER- COMIENDO
ESCRIBIR– ESCRIBIENDO
Once we have learned that it’s also really simple - you just combine
‘estar’ with the ‘gerund’ of the verb.
Using the verbs above, we can say:
I am working
Estoy trabajando
What are they eating?
¿Qué están comiendo?
