- the superb food, the beauty of the décor and the charming reception (in both English & French). Always favourable reports. Must book at weekends. Many times we enjoyed an excellent meal. This restaurant establishes Les Bretonnes as the No.1 fish establishment for many miles around. Their range of fish, especially of wild fish, lobsters (from Brittany) including “thermidor” and “l’armoricaine” and oysters (incl. the famous Gillardeau number 1 !), is quite astonishing. Also on offer are scallops, cabillaud/cod, lubina, dorada and many other sorts of fish and fruits de mer – the range is huge. Guests must first choose their meal. It is then transferred to the kitchens for preparation. They also serve meat or duck confit, or steak tartare etc.. They look after veggies and gluten free clients. The restaurant offers daily menus and also daily suggestions including kids’ menus. The menu even includes a superb fish soup without shellfish and they have potted shrimps ! There is a fine selection of French cheeses and wines and to my especial delight the wonderful wine list offered a red Sancerre (chilled, of course) and the wonderful, delicious Menetou- Salon from near Bourges in the upper Loire (both €24). The four of us ate fabulously well, including these delicious wines, for around €50 each. Matchless - go treat yourselves; it’s only a little more than so many ordinary beach restaurants ! There is a retail facility in the restaurant where all their products can be bought to take away including the cheeses and saucissons, patés, terrines, French tinned / bottled specialities, wines etc. Tell your friends. Lydia will greet you with a wonderful smile......... Tel: 96 649 2384 / E-mail: [email protected] Open 7/7 (am & pm)
