In May , I participated in a meeting of the Marina Alta mayors with the Generalitat Valenciana in which we agreed to insist that the AP-7 motorway ( the one that connects us with Valencia and Alicante ) is toll-free from 2019 . The citizens of Xàbia deserve to be better connected and we have already paid enough for a service that should be free and that is fundamental to our day to day life . On the subject of roads , the Department of Security , directed by Pepa Gisbert , has arranged with the Local Police to offer road education courses to the school children of our town . Creating awareness now is the best measure to have tomorrow ’ s drivers more aware and make our streets a place of coexistence . In the meantime , until they get their own driving licenses , we know that children are the best advisers at the wheel ... when their own parents are driving .
And for those cases where road education is insufficient , Xàbia ’ s Local Police will now carry out random drug controls on drivers . With this objective in mind , they have taken a specific training course and acquired the necessary equipment . We consider that it is a fundamental measure to avoid future calamities .
