Satellite dishes should be installed in areas where they are as sheltered as possible from winds .

Most satellite dishes are guaranteed for windspeeds up to 80kmph . And more and the dishes can warp out of shape , or even worse be ripped off the walls .

When installing satellite dishes on walls , they type of wall being use should always be considered .

Concrete block walls are a lot stronger and better for installations that the weaker red “ honeycomb ” type of brick . The type of wall being use will determine how the dishes and wall supports are anchored .

Metal expanding wall bolts are ideal for concrete block walls , but there is also a chemical resin , that sets like concrete , can be used to fix bolts to the wall , which is useful for the weaker red brick type of walls Wire cables attached to the satellite dish support can also be use keep the dish stable in winds .

However , never attach the cable to the dish , as we have seen in a few instances , as this can cause the dish to warp out of shape !
