MAFAS Marina Alta Fine Arts Society

The inaugural meeting in January of MAFAS was held during the most inclement of weather , high winds , driving rain and hailstones many brave members battled these conditions to attend .

Thankfully the 2nd meeting at the Parador De Javea was a more subdued affair , held in brighter , sunnier weather during which we were guided by Dr . Anne Anderson on a walk through the streets and cafes of bohemian Paris , exploring the gaiety and eccenticities of the city at the turn of the last century . We met on our way the aspiring and known artists of their day , looked in on the cafes they frequented and met their muses . The meeting was taken to the Moulan Rouge and caberat clubs to meet the Can-Can dancers and the stage and costume designers of the time and left joyfully with the taste of Absinthe still in our mouths . A lively appreciation of the presentation was shown by those attending .
