During November Xàbia reaffirmed its commitment to the community of foreign residents of our town , the " xabieros " born anywhere in the world .
A motion was presented at the October plenary session of the Town Hall to urge the governments of Spain and the United Kingdom to reach a bilateral agreement which respects the rights and social coverages of the British in Spain - and the Spanish subjects in the United Kingdom .
We also had an opportunity to meet with the British consul Sarah-Jane Morris , to explain to interested parties the possible effects of Brexit . It is still too early to draw any conclusions , but as Mayor of Xàbia , I assure you that we will be very attentive to what may happen and we will defend the interests of our residents with the other administrative bodies .
