Thanks to the replacement of the
materials, the new lamps consume less
energy and require less maintenance.
In total, for the residents of Xàbia,
we will save 53,000 euros a year
which can be spent on other essential
matters.
An important part of the total
investment - 140,000 euros is being
provided by the Diputación de
Alicante, thanks to the agreement
reached in the Covenant of Mayors
which I recently ratified.
Summer is just around the corner
and in Xàbia, the departments of
Services, Environment and Safety,
are preparing everything for a perfect
beginning to the season.
But the attraction of Xàbia is not just
its 25 kilometres of coastline, but the
rich cultural heritage that we must
protect and enhance.
To do this, the Department of Tourism,
for which I am responsible, has
requested the Valencian Government
of Ximo Puig for two grants to install
and renew the spotlighting of the main
sites and monuments of our town such
as the church of San Bartolomé, the
Chapel of Santa Ana, the Municipal
Market, the Riurau, the walls, the
Port church of Loreto, the Casa del
Cable and others.
In the end, what distinguishes us
from other tourist destinations is our
attention to detail.
In addition, they are doing the
necessary work to level, clean and
refill the gravel and sand on the
beaches.
One of the most important parts
of management, as I like to remind
myself each month, is one that focuses
on the people in the most need of help.
This year we have again been awarded
the four blue flags that distinguish our
coast as one of the best of Valencia
Province.
Thanks to the good work and
dedication of the people working in
the Department of Social Services,
61 applications were processed
within the Plan against Energy
Poverty developed by the Generalitat
Valenciana.
We will also improve safety in the
bathing areas, thanks to the two new
local police boats.
In the rest of the town, the force will
have 12 new support police officers
to ensure safety and peace during the
summer months.
Together with them, we have ensured
that no family is deprived of water,
electricity or first home for economic
reasons.
