Unfinished
Story

Last winter, I started knitting a bright
red scarf for the homeless - it’s still
lying in the cupboard, unfinished.
That cupboard is full of unfinished
work. Trousers and shirts with
missing buttons, a hem that needs
taking up, a T-shirt that needs
mending, a teddy bear with one eye,
another teddy with a leg that’s about
to fall off and a hole that’s leaking
stuffing, pretty much anything that
needs fixing.
We’re running out of clothes to
wear, the children are running out of
teddy’s to cuddle, and the
cupboard’s running out of space.
