Remember your “why.” There is no way
around it-temptation is going to come to
your taste buds this summer. A great way
to be proactive is to write down, or
creatively construct a vision piece, that will
help you to remember why you are
making changes in what you allow into
your mouth. So much fruit comes from a
disciplined life, and this absolutely rings
true when it comes to what foods we
choose to consume. Throughout the Word
of God, He instructed His people to build
alters, or places to remember what He did.
This is a great principle to apply to our
health and wellness. Remember what you
have already accomplished, and have a
well-crafted vision for where you want to
go.
Create both outcome-oriented goals and
process-oriented goals. As you are
thinking about your plans for the summer
you may find it helpful to write down one
or two “big” goals for this summer. These
large goals with an ultimate end in mind
are outcome-oriented goals. Losing 20
pounds or toning your legs might be your
outcome goals. You also need process-
oriented goals, or small goals that help
make your desired outcome a reality. If
you want to tone your legs, you might
make a process-oriented goal of engaging
in resistance training for an hour 4 days a
week. Don’t swing the pendulum too far to
the left or right here, success always
requires balance. You need both vision and
a plan.
Eat a small meal prior to the party.
Let’s face it; if we are hungry we are
going to have a harder time resisting
all of the foods that will harm our
minds and bodies. Try eating 10
almonds, a piece of fruit, a side salad,
or a powder smoothie 30 minutes to
an hour prior to an event
