Jasmine's Place Issue No. 14 - December 2014 | Page 57
I finished the Gospel of Matthew
yesterday. Right before Jesus is
crucified (Matthew 27:27-31), the
soldiers that are preparing him place
a scarlet robe on his body, a staff in
his right hand and a twisted crown of
thorns on his head and proceed to
mock him.
Just visualizing this scene
brought tears to my eyes.
I needed to know these details…they
spoke to me in a way no second hand
account ever could. And through all
of this He never defended
himself. He never fought back.
He only blessed those who did
not know. He could have stopped the
whole thing, but where would we be
if He did?
Not having a relationship with God or
His Word kept me in the dark, but in
a darkness of my own choosing. He
desires for us to know Him and grow
as His children…and I pray that I am
looking a bit newer to Him.
And through
all of this He
never
defended
himself.
He never fought
back.
He only
blessed those who did
not know.
He could
have stopped the
whole thing, but where
would we be if He did?
