AFRICA, TO THE EAST
AND TO THE WEST

Since the early 21st century, piracy has surged off the coasts of Africa and become a threat to world security and
trade. As a result, a number of international actors are attempting to curb piracy.
As a country heavily dependent on international trade transiting in the area, Djibouti established the Djibouti Coast
Guard to join in international antipiracy efforts in the Gulf of Aden and off the coast of Somalia.
To the west, Togo is leading the fight against piracy in the Gulf of Guinea by hosting the first Summit of Heads of
State and Governement on Maritime Security in Africa.
ソマリア沖とアデン湾で海賊による事件が急増しており、21世紀初頭の世界の安全保障と貿易への脅威となりました。その結
果、海賊に対処する取り組みがさまざまな国際アクターによって行われました。
この地域を経由する国際的な貿易に大きく依存する国として、
ジブチは国際的な海賊対処の取り組みに参加するためにジブチ
沿岸警備隊を設立しました。イエメン紛争についてもジブチ沿岸警備隊は危機対処組織の主要な役割を担っており、難民受け
入れの任務にも当たっています。
西に位置しているトーゴ共和国はギニア湾での海賊対応の先頭にたっています。周辺初の海上警備のサミットを開催するなど
の顕著な動きを行いました。
