n Saturday April 16th, 2016, at 6:58
pm (local time), a 7.8 earthquake
on the Richter scale struck the
northern coast of Ecuador. The
epicenter was located between the
provinces of Esmeraldas and Manabi. The
damages in the affected areas are countless.
Despite the rescue efforts, at the moment, there
are more than 400 casualties and thousands
of injured people, destroyed houses as well as
public infrastructure.

The Ecuadorian Government is doing its
utmost effort to attend the most urgent needs.
In order to support this work, the following
international account has been open to receive
donations from all over the world.
Additionally, even though the critical situation
Japan is facing after the earthquakes in
Kumamoto, the Japanese Red Cross Society
opened an account to receive contributions to
support the victims in Ecuador.
