Where do you see the local bicycle movement in 1/5/20 years time?

We have so much support from a government that realizes you can't build your way out of a traffic jam, and citizens who are realizing the benefits from a more integrated and healthy community, that I see bicycling support growing fast. In one year there are a lot of little projects that will be met, such as re-striping roads and adding bike lanes, and fixing inaccessible streets. In five, some of the more major projects will be complete, such as bike paths along major thoroughfares and downtown and the universities being able to be completely transversed by pedestrians, disabled, and cyclists. In twenty years it is very possible Louisiana will have a healthier and happier community with more money spent locally and an even closer bond due to major infrastructure for cycling being in place.

Anything else you'd like to mention?

Going from being a successful veterinarian to being horribly hurt, to bicycle advocacy and community building, I have been very involved in talking with various organizations about change and the benefits of working together as a community. Bicycling in Louisiana is such a real example of that for me, we have accomplished so much in a short period of time. I am a big believer in the greater picture of benefiting from tragic situations and working towards a common goal, and I like to talk to any person or group who think they might benefit from this perspective.
