Act 31 – Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting for Dental Professionals
Presented by Angela M. Stout, DMD, MPH( breakfast provided)
2 CE credits appropriate for all attendees. Act 31 is a requirement for all PA dental license holders( dentists, hygienists and EFDAs).
Education Methods: lecture, slides, case studies and discussion
PDA’ s program, Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting for Dental Professionals, focuses on training dental professionals and is approved by the Department of Human Services as well as the PA State Board of Dentistry and will fulfill the Act 31 mandatory CE requirement for dentists, hygienists and EFDAs.
At the conclusion of the course, the participant can expect to:
• Understand categories of child abuse as defined by the Child Protective Services Law.
• Recognize universal child abuse indicators.
• Recognize signs of abuse.
• Understand the legal responsibilities as mandated reporters.
• Know when, how and where to report suspected abuse, and what happens after a report is made.
• Understand the protections for reporters and penalties for failure to report.
ATTENTION: Attendees will be asked to provide their full name, license number, date of birth and the last 4 digits of their social security number. PDA will transmit this information to the state to verify that you completed this course needed for license renewal in March 2027.

Emergency Preparedness in the Dental Office

Medical emergencies can and do happen in a dental office. Being prepared is the key to managing the situation to ensure the best possible outcome.
The discussion should include doctors and their staff, since an emergency is best handled with a well-trained team.
