This fast-paced 3-hour course will present an abridged update of the latest drug and supplement information of importance to dentistry focusing on the topics of antibiotic stewardship ; the supplement industry ; when to and when not to prescribe non-opiate pain relievers , and antioxidants , C-reactive protein and heart attack risks including alcohol . For antibiotics , the management of odontogenic infections , and the latest published AHA guidelines for premedication will be presented , and the orthopedic premedication guidelines from 2017 will be presented . Three case studies involving antibiotic litigation are presented . Conditions which contraindicate the use of NSAID pain relievers will be listed . Hot button supplements including St . John ’ s wort , ginkgo biloba , Co-Q-10 , ginseng , turmeric , and echinacea will be described . From the Mayo Clinic , antioxidants and supplements to take for maximum health including the top 12 vitamins / supplements will be presented .
