Pittsburgh on June 23-24 . Anyone who has volunteered at one of these missions knows how rewarding it is and what a great feeling you get the treating patients . As the MOMs get put in the rearview mirror and the summer fades into autumn , the profession will have the chance to come together in Orlando for SmileCon 2023 on October 5-7 . The ADA will return to land of Mickey Mouse once again . Some may remember that the meeting was scheduled to be in Orlando in 2020 , but was canceled ( what wasn ’ t ?) due to the pandemic . That year the entire meeting , including the ADA House of Delegates , was held virtually ! This should be a wonderful opportunity to spend time with family and friends and have the unique opportunity to learn and see the latest in everything dental .
Not to rush this new year , but we all know once Halloween comes it will be a downhill race to Thanksgiving , another holiday season and a Happy New Year 2024 ! The 525,600 minutes of this new year will sometimes feel like they are slowly creeping by , and other times will feel they are flying by . I hope we can all take the time this year to appreciate our time here and the chance to spend some of that time with family and friends and celebrating our lives . The time is short .
As I finish this editorial ( a few days after I started ), I just received notice that another one of my mentors and a legend here in Erie and Pennsylvania and even the ADA has passed away . It has certainly been expected for a few years , but the news is always a dose of reality when it finally comes . He was yet another colleague who never shied away from wearing the bow tie ! Rest in Peace Dr . William B . Trice !
