Board of Directors 2017-2018 Kim Johnson With the conclusion of another year, I have made all efforts to fully immerse myself in my new role. I have had time to reflect and look at AQHA in a new light. The Directors and I had a very productive Board Meeting in December 2017 and we are all motivated for the upcoming year and the newly allotted portfolios. The Board is an energetic representative who are enthusiastic with fresh concepts and ideas which will be further developed with their subcommittees. The Board meeting saw new philosophies deliberated and I thought it prudent to touch base with the members regarding the initiatives. Communication from the Board and Staff is being refurbished and we will be regularly updating on the Association's progress through emails, the website and social media. The objective is for all to have a better understanding of AQHA and its ability to serve you the members. The AQHA Affiliates, Amateurs, Judges and Youth are receiving newsletters straight from the Directors responsible for these divisions. This will develop communication protocols and equip the members with knowledge, support and direct contact with the Board. The National Show Convenor is Kyle Mobberley and the show program has been approved, with some great concepts and we hope the variations will make Q18 the best show ever with the celebration of our 40th Anniversary. The AQHA is looking to diversify and have Quarter Horse representation in all parts of the industry. Ricky Glen is leading the way with 2018 incentives with NCHA and the Campdrafters. The Board wishes to remain diligent with the Association finances and will keep the membership informed on the formation of a foundation to benefit AQHA into the future. In conclusion communication, marketing, economic security, diversification, serving and understanding the needs of our member is paramount. I am more than happy to discuss with members any ideas or queries, so please feel free to give me a call. We hope that your festive season was relaxing, fruitful and enjoyable.
