It’ s Jan. 1, a new year, and so many of our thoughts or resolutions turn to fitness and healthier living. Unfortunately for most of us those lofty ideas tend to go by the wayside in a few weeks. But if you are determined that this is the year to truly do something, you may not have to look any further than our own Activity Center at Charbonneau for your personal training instruction.
The Marston twins, Kimberly and Kristen, work out of the fitness center on the second floor.
Both are 2016 graduates of Oregon State University with degrees in Exercise and Sport Science and both are certified personal trainers. Kimberly is also a corrective exercise specialist and a senior fitness specialist. Kristen is a weight loss specialist and women’ s fitness specialist.
Kimberly, who lives in Wilsonville, attended one of Charbonneau’ s New Comers Welcome Fairs in 2019, where she picked up a few resident clients. The workout center at that time was in the Village Center building a couple of doors down from Lux Sucre. COVID came a

year later and knocked out all of their business. In a couple of cases, weather permitting, she worked with clients outdoors in their yards. Kimberly to this day still has two of those original clients that have been with her since 2019. Post COVID she worked at the OHSU Hospital gym as well as here in Charbonneau until she was able to leave the hospital and go full time here.
Kristen is here in Charbonneau Tuesday and Thursday. Her Monday, Wednesday and Fridays were until just recently spent doing personal training at Edge Family Fitness in Wilsonville. She has left that position and opened her own training studio, KDM Fitness in Wilsonville.
Their work here in Charbonneau involves a lot of helping people seeking assistance in strength training, flexibility and balance issues. Others come after joint replacement, when their physical therapy sessions run out. Or it can be as simple as a grandparent wanting to be able to get down on the floor to play with the grandkids, and then to get back up again.

The Marstons specialize in exercise and sports fitness.
They both shared some client success stories. A local 85-yearold resident was scheduled for back surgery. One month working with Kimberly and they were able to cancel the surgery, and that was nearly a year ago. Kristen worked with a client suffering long-term sciatica and it was gone in just over a month.
Both young women are avid outdoors people with paddleboarding a favorite summer activity.
They were runners for a while, starting with a 5K, then progressing to 10Ks, then a half-marathon and finally to a full 26.2-mile marathon.

But distance running for them comes in that“ been there-done that” category. They are more than happy to say that they are in the group of one-half of 1 % of the population who has completed a full marathon.
At the time this piece was going to print both Kimberly and Kristen had very full schedules and only a few places were open for new clients. So, if 2026 is really your year to get in shape, head over to the Activity Center to meet these two motivating young professionals. If you wind up working with either one of them you will be in very capable hands.
