Keystone Central Foundation Supports Student Success
As the year wraps up , the Keystone Central Foundation is proud to reflect on the ways we have positively impacted KCSD students ' educational experiences this fall . By providing our La Rue Hinchcliffe Stars in the Classroom Mini-Grants , we have empowered teachers and schools to enhance or introduce new programs for our students , particularly in the areas of music , field trips , and promoting positive behavior in the classroom . Donations and continued support have allowed us to award over $ 10,000 in grants this school year .
Enriching Musical Education
One of the most exciting initiatives this fall has been our focus on musical education . For many students , music is not just a subject ; it ’ s a passion that fosters discipline , teamwork , and self-confidence . Our mini grant program has provided funding to Bucktail to purchase a concert tuba for the high school band and a classroom set of ukuleles for a new music unit for the Bucktail middle schoolers .
Our Mini-Grant Committee loves to see innovative ideas , so when CMHS music teacher , Mr . Eldreth , requested guitars , drums , and amps to create a student and faculty rock band , it quickly became a reality . Practices have started and we ’ re looking forward to the sense of community their performances will bring .
Initiatives also extended to the elementary schools as Robb Elementary is working to introduce a new Drum Circle and Sound Stories Community Building Through Music unit for students . This program will not only allow the students to make music , it will also help teach students how to collaborate , build listening skills , understand rhythm , and perform for an audience .
Promoting Positive Behavior in the Classroom
Creating a positive learning environment is crucial for student success , and our organization has also focused on initiatives that promote positive behavior in the classroom and in the community . Central Mountain Middle and High Schools have implemented PBIS behavior incentive programs that recognize and reward students for their efforts and achievements . They have instituted monthly recognition events for students and invite parents / guardians / community members to celebrate these successes . Our Mini-Grants are funding a portion of the monthly celebrations at the schools . These programs encourage students to develop good habits , such as respect , responsibility , and teamwork . As we move forward , our organization remains committed to supporting students and educators in meaningful ways . The feedback we ’ ve received from teachers and students alike demonstrates the profound impact of these mini-grant opportunities .
We are excited to continue this work , exploring new avenues for funding and support that will further enrich the educational experiences of students in our community . If you would like more information , please contact us at www . kcfoundation . com or 570-660-1306 .
