Drones , or unmanned aerial vehicles ( UAVs ), have emerged as transformative tools in civil engineering , revolutionizing the way professionals approach construction , surveying , and infrastructure management . These versatile machines are equipped with high-resolution cameras , sensors , and GPS technology , enabling them to capture precise aerial data and create detailed 3D models of construction sites . Drones enhance project efficiency by providing real-time monitoring , improving safety , and reducing costs associated with traditional surveying and inspection methods . By streamlining data collection and analysis , drones have become an essential asset in optimizing project timelines , ensuring quality , and enhancing decision-making in the field of civil engineering .
This presentation provides an overview of commercial drone use , specifically in construction , mapping , 3D modeling , data collection and inspection .
