Higher Ground International celebrated its Fifteenth Anniversary Cultural Gala at the Crowne Plaza , presenting eight Village Leader Awards to dedicated supporters and raising more than $ 100,000 to support the construction of a new building . The event welcomed more than 420 guests and featured a traditional West African fashion show , a spoken word performance and entertainment by the Echoes of Liberia dance troupe .
