LOST PETS IN EXTREME WEATHER : HOW YOU CAN HELP KEEP THEM SAFE
If you are in the area of a stray lost dog or cat , please consider providing warm shelter , food , and water to keep them safe during severe cold weather .
• Open gates to fenced yards , provide shelter in an open shed or covered port , or open garage door slightly ( if you don ' t have pets and it ' s safe to do so ).
• Provide a box lined with straw , along with dry food and water . Check it frequently to be sure it didn ' t freeze .
• Monitor your security cameras - increase the range and sensitivity .
• Keep owner ' s contact information available ( if you have it ), so that you can quickly call with sightings , or contact your local police station or shelter .
