PRESIDENT ’ S MESSAGE
It doesn ’ t even really feel like winter has started and somehow January is more than half done . It has been an odd combination of late fall and early spring feeling in New Hampshire this year , and I can ’ t even begin to figure out when to tap my maple trees now . The weather has been sap weather for the last three weeks , but does a sugar season really start on new year ’ s eve ? At least there was some snow this past weekend so I could finally send the kids out to sled to and build snow forts .
But all of this mild weather allows for a lot of additional opportunities . The construction season has lingered on more than usual and it has allowed for some catch up to this crazy 2022 that we have just come through . Here is to hoping that 2023 may be just a little less exciting and a little more predictable . Yet asking life to be predictable may be about as expected as winning the lottery while the Patriots make it to the playoffs ( rest in peace 2022 Patriots , it was a rough one ).
But on to better and brighter things , our Lunch and Learns start again this month ! There is a great presentation coming from Senceive on January 26
th
that you absolutely should attend . It will be an insightful and detailed discussion allowing for to get back together , share some knowledge , and continue all of our educational and knowledge increasing goals . Email invitations have been sent , with a few reminders still to come .
Be sure to check out our young member ’ s corner , the cranium challenge , the board member of the month , and all the other great articles in this month ’ s issue . And don ’ t forget what they say “ Surely you can ’ t be serious ? I am serious , and don ’ t call me Shirley .”
My best to you and yours , Owen Friend-Gray PE ASCE-NH President
