f you haven ’ t heard the good news , Newport Vineyards now serves fresh-from-the-farm , bona fide beer thanks to its on-site brewery , Taproot Brewing Company . Housed in an industrial chic space where the winery ’ s cafe used to be , the brewery ’ s steel fermenters can be seen through the windows Ion the left while a giant bar stands in front .

There are plenty of high-top tables with bar stools and large tables to the right that are suitable for small groups and households alike .
Owner John Nunes , who has been brewing beer for more than twenty years , was on hand to talk about the development when we visited . “ Welcome to Taproot Brew , what we ’ re calling an expansion of our roots ,” he says . “ After having some fresh beer over the last couple of years and seeing what ’ s happening with the business , I was ready to have some fun .”
The brewery rounds out the farm experience at the vineyard . Visitors can taste wines made from grapes grown in the fields , dine at the restaurant that sources ingredients from local farms and sip beer that ’ s made on-site , too . “ We are embracing what ’ s going on here on Aquidneck Island with the farming operation and growing grapes , as well as the whole farm-to-table experience with the food and wine , and now the beer ,” says Nunes .
As a small-batch brewery , Taproot focuses on a variety of beers , always providing visitors with something different to try . The brewery offers about nine brews on tap on any given day along with carry out four-packs . As for styles , beer lovers can expect to find a range of brews from porters to blonde ales , as well as a steady selection of New England IPAs . Even more impressive , Taproot has produced approximately 100 beers since its debut in 2018 . Having
