Carol service success
The Lux Mundi , Torre del Mar Ecumenical Carol Service was held on Saturday , December 12 in the Parish Church of San Andrés in Torre del Mar , where Christians from different traditions , international friends and residents in the Axarquia , came together to pray and enjoy the traditional carols . The prayers were led by the Rev . Manfred Otterstaetter , German Evangelical Church , Rev Brent McHuge , Spanish Episcopal Reformed Church , Rev . Louis Darrant , Anglican Church East Malaga and Don . Francisco Cardaldas , Parish Priest Parroquia San Andrés , Torre del Mar . There were readings by various members of the congregation and a soloist from the Los Cantaores German choir , Maggie Horton and Katherine Ockenfelds sang in English and Raquel accompanied on the guitar by the Parish priest sang in Spanish . It was a most enjoyable service with the congregation who were socially distanced and wore masks joining in the various carols , the words of which were displayed on large screens at the sides of the church . We would like to give thanks to all those from the community who came to supports this special event of Lux Mundi and for the generosity . Pictured is the Nativity scene in front of the altar .

International Volunteer Day
On International Volunteer Day last month , the Town Council showed their appreciation for the work that the Nerja volunteers have been doing . The Town Hall wants to recognize the important work done by the individual volunteers , associations and collectives , which have selflessly been on the frontline helping
and providing care to families and individuals who are having a hard time recently because of the serious crisis coronavirus .
The Mayor of Nerja , José Alberto Armijo , and the Security Councilor , Francisco Arce , especially thanked the Group of Protection Volunteers ( pictured ) for their work and services provided to the elderly , dependents and the most vulnerable population to cover their basic needs , such as the procurement of food or medicines during the confinement period . Likewise , because of their collaboration with the Law Enforcement officers in compliance with the measures to combat the virus .

Food bank donations
