TRAIL REPORT FOR MONROE COUNTY
Our trails are not yet open !
As we are hopefully getting closer to opening our trails very soon , we do have some areas that are of concern for this season in our county .
As of right now , trails 42 & 43 northwest of Warrens and heading towards Jackson County will be closed all season . Trail 25 from Warrens to Jackson County will be able to stay open at this time !
2 ) Trail 57 just north of Wyeville just off Copper Road between Wyeville and Eagles Nest / Jackson County will have a stretch of divided travel , sharing the route with logging trucks . This area has been marked for all snowmobile traffic to stay on one side of the signs and the logging trucks on the other ! Please stay on your side of the signs !
3 ) There is also logging on trail 51 towards Eagles Nest just west of Crescent Rd . This area is also marked !
4 ) There is also some logging going on in the county forest property between Sparta & Cataract on trail 27 . Please be aware !
5 ) The Elroy-Sparta bike trail between Kendall & Elroy will be closed all season this year due to trail repairs and that 2 bridges are being completely replaced .
6 ) The spot on the Elroy-Sparta bike trail just west of Wilton near Keystone Rd that we had the short reroute for last year is once again in place for this year , please again use caution as it did work well last year .
7 ) The landslides near the Hwy 71 bridge crossing and east of Dorset Valley have been repaired and the trail is open as it was before the flood damage near intersection 34 .
8 ) Depending on when we are able to open the trails , the Elroy-Sparta bike trail between Norwalk & Wilton may remain closed for a while . They are working on that section of trail now and hope to be completed around January 11th , depending on the weather . They will be having truck and equipment traffic on that trail until they are completed and it will be plowed clear for them to drive on until then .
Let ’ s hope for some more snow and some more cold to freeze down some wet
