It is an unpublished universal truth within the SCTA that if one wishes to step up and put in the time to help sustain and grow the trials community , no one will stand in your way . It is in this context that the Keysville event became the Kern River Classic ( KRC ) two years ago . Enter Scott and Allison Head . Past Keysville event contributors , now KRC Trials Masters , and mototrials super enthusiasts , they live near the coast , 165 miles due west of Keysville , more or less midway between the SCTA in the south and the PITS club in the north . Active participants in both the SCTA and PITS clubs , they had an idea to form a new club , the Southern Sierra MotoTrials Club , as a way to give back to the sport and further the ideal of trials community .
The SSMC would be a bridge to bring the northern and southern California trials communities closer together . It is a long bridge . The distance between SCTA in the south and PITS in the north is roughly 400 miles which tends to be a barrier for cross club participation . The Keysville location is not halfway but it has proved to be good location to draw from riders from So Cal and Nor Cal .
