The Disney Oklahoma Saturday sun was shining bright over the Pensacola Dam spillway when the car horn sounded sending the twin shock vintage riders out in parade . Bultaco , Yamaha , Honda , and Kawasaki , all names rarely seen at modern trial events but the vintage movement is alive and well in Oklahoma . In 2020 , veteran rider and two-time Scottish Six day finisher , Kirk Mayfield , pumped new life into the twin shock class . It was simply a case of monkey see – monkey do ; he looked like he was having too much fun floating his 1974 TY 250 around every turn . Saturday ’ s old school sections featured red ribbon on the right and blue ribbon on the left with no splits or gates . Scores were low and smiles were wide ; Kevin Kight finished 3rd on his Sherpa-T with four points , Mayfield was 2nd carding three points and Jason Shackelford finished clean on the day aboard a freshly restored ‘ 76 TY 250 .
Cool , crisp temperatures greeted riders for the modern trial on Sunday , at the same venue . A year of competition came down to the final 24 sections and even that wasn ’ t enough to decide the class championship for the Intermediate class . Joplin Missouri rider Danny Patrum and fellow statesman
