Some years later , aboard a ‘ 77 Yamaha IT400 , at a local Hare Scrambles . Location is the old Big Valley Raceway , which began hosting Scrambles races following World War II . Run up the creek was popular with riders and spectators alike . Many , many competitors hit their head on that bridge over the years .” ( rider : Ted )
Disc brakes came along , and wow ! We could stop !
Into the 90 ’ s then , and virtually anything you elected to choose from was just a fantastic piece of equipment . Out in the woods and on the trails , obstacles we used to fear became barely a bump along the way . A nasty ledge to get up and over ? Brrrrp ! A flick of the throttle and it was behind you . Rocks , logs , big hills – the bikes would just rip ‘ em up . We were loving it !
Ok , so where do the old bikes come in ? Well , here ’ s the crazy thing . So , we ’ ve got these great new bikes , and they ’ re just everything we could possibly hope for , and then some . But then one day it occurred to us – hey , we ’ re running out of challenges ! These bikes are so good , it ’ s all just a matter of exactly how fast you want to go .
