From the Editor
What a crazy year 2020 has been ! We ’ ve had all kinds of restrictions and lockdowns , months without events , and even a total cancellation of the US MotoTrials Series . And when racing did resume on the East Coast , we had record turnouts because people were sick of being stuck inside and were ready to ride .
2020 also marked my 25 th year in photojournalism . And my 25 th year to publish On The Pegs , which was called Trials Competition when I acquired it from Clara Patrick . Originally , it was called Plonkers Press in the early 70 ’ s when Jeanie Flippin first published it in Missouri . US National Trials Champion Curt Comer looked after Trials Competition for several years before passing it on to the Patrick family .
Though I am by far not the best writer , photographer or editor , I have had a passion for off-road racing and a love for gathering news bits and putting them together to publish On The Pegs . But after 25 years , I feel it is time to pass the torch to someone with an even bigger passion and bigger ideas .
I am excited to announce that Stephanie Vetterly , of Pennsylvania , is the new Editor-in-Chief of On The Pegs , starting with this issue .
Stephanie has been publishing the Trials Inc newsletter for the past few years and has also been the social media person for the US MotoTrials series . She ’ s an excellent photographer and writer , so On The Pegs is in good hands .
I ’ m not totally leaving the picture , though . I plan to continue to do what I love the most , which is generating content : shooting photos and writing stories . So , I will take a step back and assume a role as contributor , while Stephanie takes On The Pegs to even bigger places .
I wish Stephanie the best of luck and I hope our readers and advertisers will support her as much as they have me over the past 25 years .
It ’ s been a blast and I hope to see you all at the races .
