" Rwanda is referred to as the cleanest African nation , where you don ’ t find plastic water bags littering the streets of Kigali , the capital , and in secondary cities ".
By Kingsley Kobo , Abidjan , Cote D ' ivore
Rwanda was relatively an unknown country to many people prior to the 1994 genocide that claimed more than one million lives and shocked the entire planet . Soon after the tragedies , the landlocked East African country became a cynosure for researchers , writers , photographers , filmmakers and international judges , who were in quest of information and materials in order to present the harrowing events to the world . Fortunately , the new leaders were not overwhelmed by the gloomy aftermath like what have been experienced in a number of war-torn nations . They went ahead planning the future of the country , giving a top priority to the environment .
Today , Rwanda is referred to as the cleanest African nation , where you don ’ t find plastic water bags littering the streets of Kigali , the capital , and in secondary cities . That is only a minor part of the brilliant progress the country has achieved since the end of the genocide .
Almost every sector has been transformed by the ambitious and visionary President Paul Kagame and his team , who keep dreaming of making the Rwanda Miracle a reality .
