A rather quiet and shy type he possesses a magnificent basketball IQ that ties in well with his size and physicality to be on any major professional team ’ s roster in the near future .

Nicknamed “ Yao ”, after China ’ s greatest basketball player of all time , Alimamy found his way to Prolific Academy in California through the efforts of his Dad , a Former Commissioner for the National Youth Commission of Sierra Leone ; Mr . Anthony Alimamy Koroma and Lawyer Drucil Taylor a key figure in the basketball Community of Sierra Leone .
Despite the recent appointment of Victor Williams as the CEO of NBA Africa who is also of Sierra Leonean Origin , the basketball scene in Sierra Leone is a rather fledgling one as it is like for most of Africa , save for powerhouse countries like Cameroon , Nigeria , Senegal , Mali , Tunisia and Angola .
Alimamy Dura Koroma ’ s rise bodes well for Sierra Leone basketball and the continued growth of basketball in Africa , which now has a major basketball league in the NBA / FIBA Sponsored " Basketball Africa League ".

Alimamy Duramani Koroma , a 6ft 8in Power forward from Freetown , Sierra Leone currently plays for Cal Poly , a Division I NCAA University in California , USA .
On December 13th 2020 he showed the promise of a great star he is destined to be when he led his university with a career high 19 points over San Jose State University for a well earned victory .
Molding out to be a significant force on the basketball court , which was on display on December 13th in California , is evidence of Dura ’ s promise that he had always shown on the playgrounds of Freetown , in Sierra Leone .
Alimamy is a dominant two-way player with the potential of being drafted in the NBA someday .
