FROM THE PRESIDENT’S DESK
Dear Friends,
On behalf of The Clothing Manufacturers Association of India
and the entire garment fraternity, I take the opportunity of
wishing all of you a very Happy New Year. As we mark an end
of one decade, I am optimistic that 2020 will be a decade of
instant transformation and development. 2020 will be a year of
change that will fuel the growth and trade of the textile industry.
Last month, members from the industry had the opportunity of
personally meeting our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra
Modi at his residence. During the meeting, members took the
respected Prime Minister through the ground realities of the
industry, shared their points of view and discussed matters
crucial to the sector. This meeting sends out a wave of
encouragement and reaffirms the continuous support we have
been receiving from the government.
I am looking forward to the much-awaited ‘Textiles Policy 2020’
that will be implemented for the next 10 years. After gathering
views from the industry, CMAI has shared suggestions with
the government and the textile ministry, which will play an
important role in formulating the policy. We understand that the
policy aims at developing a competitive textile sector, which is
modern, sustainable and inclusive. It also promises a special
focus on the manufacturing of apparel and garments, technical
textiles, man-made fibre products and exports.
We believe that this move will have a significant impact on the
sector and most importantly, help realise the Prime Minister’s
vision of ‘Make in India’ for the country.
As we begin the New Year, let’s introspect on the decisions
that have yielded positive business results and those that need
to be reconsidered. Let’s create resolutions that will contribute
to growth and seize the many opportunities that our country
provides. I look forward to a power-packed 2020 and wish
each one of you a decade full of luck.
Once again, a very Happy and Prosperous New Year to each
one of you.
