BRANDIE HAVELL Stacey Layman, DDS With the New Year just getting started, many of us are thinking about our resolutions. What are your goals for 2019? My main goal this year is to focus and grow my sleep apnea practice. Last year, we took a huge step and took sleep out of the general practice and opened GoTo Sleep Center. We started with one day per week and one staff member to handle both front and back office but our referral base has become very active so we’ve increased our treatment days. Focusing solely on dental sleep medicine versus crowns and fillings and throwing some dental sleep in there somewhere has had incredible results. We were delivering 5 cases a month and ended 2018 at 25-30 per month. 2018 has been good, but without further ado, I present to you my goals for 2019…. 1. Increase case volume from 30/month to 45/ month 2. Add more treatment days for a total of 4 3. Analyze patient flow to improve team efficiency 4. Continue to improve our patient experience 5. Develop a patient kit including take-home information packets, appliance travel pack, and customized literature 6. Lower lab fees (Yes, labs, I’m talking to you!) Invest in CE for myself and our team 8. Earn facility accreditation with the AADSM It’s a lot, but I am confident we’ll achieve most of these goals and make progress on every one of them. One thing that is critically important is to define and write down your goals. If you don’t do that, it ain’t gonna happen. If I can do this, then I know you can. We owe it to our patients.
