PAUL P. DALEY
STEWARTSTOWN – Paul P. Daley, 82, of Stewartstown, died peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook.
Paul was the firstborn child of the late Joseph G. Daley Sr. and Yvonne O.( Goulet) Daley and was born on June 2, 1934 at the Coos County Hospital in West Stewartstown. He graduated from Colebrook Academy in 1953 and attended the New Hampshire Technical College in Manchester where he earned an associate degree in welding. He was a veteran of the US Army.
To summarize Paul’ s career as a self-employed logger wouldn’ t begin to encompass the mastery of skills he possessed. Paul started working in the woods with his father at a young age and continued logging with his brothers. He was the sawyer at the family sawmill, and helped design and build several homes and a camp on Maidstone Lake. He also drove his Mack truck on road construction that included I-89 in Vermont, built bridges, operated and repaired heavy equipment. He was known for his ability to fix anything and was fascinated and had a gift with all things mechanical. One of his greatest loves was making maple syrup and keeping abreast of the developments in the industry. Devoting himself to his family for many years, he assisted his mother when she was widowed and was a father figure to his siblings. Paul served the town of Lemington in several capacities including: auditor, selectman, road commissioner and lister. He was an avid Nascar fan and a communicant at North American Martyrs Parish.
On April 29, 1983 Paul gave up his bachelor days, married the love of his life Louise P. Gould, and moved from Lemington to Stewartstown. They made a life together sharing many happy memories and traveling throughout the United States. His family grew by three as he gained two cherished step-daughters, Ann and Susan, with whom he couldn’ t have been closer. As the family expanded he found great joy in grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
Paul was a patient and kind problem solver, and he will be remembered for his strength of character, work ethic, his everpresent

He leaves behind two brothers: Edward and Jeanne Daley and Joseph Jr. and Barbara Daley of Lemington, Vt.; and three sisters: Alice Noyes, Ann and Thomas Balon of Manchester, and Myra Ellingwood of Lemington, along with numerous nieces and nephews and his favorite pet, Kitty Daley.
