Where walking falls short is in keeping muscles strong. Health guidelines from the World Health Organization suggest that, in addition to aerobic exercise, people should undertake some kind of muscle-strengthening activity, targeting all the major muscle groups, at least twice a week. Lifting weights or doing bodyweight exercises, such as yoga, are critical for keeping people mobile and maintaining bone health.
