1. Clean it quick. While the grill is still warm, use a non-scratch scrubber to remove any food scraps and charcoal residue, then put a barbecue-safe bowl of water onto the hotplate and close the hood. After your meal, steam will have evaporated onto the hood, which makes it easy to wipe down with a cloth or paper towel.
2. Leave the fat and grease. It’ s tempting to scrub a barbecue to sparkling new, but the fat and grease residue protects your hotplate from rust.
3. Use a safe cleaning tool. Wire-bristle grill brushes have been known to shed stray wires, posing a serious health risk, so use a wooden scraper instead.
4. Keep it under a cover. Most Costco grills come with a custom-fitted cover. This will protect your barbecue from the elements, so it should only need an exterior clean occasionally.
