What should viewers expect from the show?

This show makes you think about your own life and the issues occurring around you right now. Everyone will have a character they can relate to. This is a show about America. This is a show about real people, real stories, and the pain they have to endure every day.

How would you describe your experience while working on the show?

This has genuinely been one of the best experiences of my life. Our director Craig Zobel and producers Jonathan Starch, Sofia Lin, and Matt DeRoss have created such a safe space to let our emotions flow organically. A space where we can trust those around us so much so that we feel safe enough to fully expose the worst parts of ourselves. I’ve never felt more supported in my life. This cast is also immaculate. Not only as actors but as people. This cast have become my brothers and sisters. I’ve learned so much from working with them and feel so honored to have been in their presence. It happened often I would get lost in a scene because I was so mesmerized by the beauty of their performances. I couldn’t be more honored to be associated with such an impeccable troupe of artists.

What excites you about One Dollar and why?

I’m excited to share our truth with the world. All of the raw emotion on the show we’ve pulled from real places. All of the social issues we portray in the show we feel so passionate about, and while scary to share yourself at your most vulnerable with the world, as an actor, it’s my duty to share that. I hope the show inspires viewers to take a stance on the issues they feel strongly about.

Was there ever a time where you had difficulty with a character. What was the role and why was it challenging?

Playing Dannie has been a challenge from day one. We come from completely different backgrounds. Dannie sees the world through rose colored glasses, but at the same time, we’re similar in a lot of ways. Our impulse to be there for others and see the best in people is palpable. It was a daily challenge to find the perfect balance and blend of myself and Danielle. Our director Craig was always there to guide me back to her when my emotions took over.

What was your first role as an actor?

I was in Sesame Street in 2004. I recently shared my first episode of Sesame Street with my one-year-old nephew. It was such a special moment.
