What is the most important part of a relationship??

There are two parts. Compromise and open communication.

What did you take away from working with Tyler Perry?

Trust in yourself and believe that hard work does pay off. I know it’s cliché but this man is a prime example of it. Tyler Perry is a visionary who works efficiently, professionally, and still manages to engage in such a fun and exciting work environment. He enjoys working with multiple cameras all capturing different coverage’s/angles which means you better be on your “A” game on every take. He has a trained eye for detail and will catch the slightest error. It was such a learning experience for me not only working for him but also watching him in his element. The crew was just as detailed and very proactive. They kept everything running smooth, efficient, and safely. What really stood out was that there weren’t any egos or attitudes with talent or with anyone in general. Everyone was excited and happy to work with us and happy to work for Tyler; from the 1st AD down to the transportation drivers. The cast was great!

Is this your first big break on the silver screen?

Yes it is! I am grateful to have worked on a TV series and have been working more on independent films for festivals, but this is my first break on the silver screen for a major production. I can’t wait to have you all check it out and support!

How do you continue to improve your talent as an actor?

I tend to have certain stages/phases. I am in a phase where I find myself learning more and practicing more behind the camera (directing, writing, producing, etc). This is helping more on a technical side with my craft as an actor because sometimes what feels organic, performance wise, or cadence, might not look or feel good on the scene. There is a craft and rhythm/formula to every genre, every scene in film and television. Prior to this I was learning the skill set of auditioning, which is a different monster in its entirety.

Do you remember how you felt when you were told you got the part?

I was very excited to have booked a job but I had no clue as to whom or what the project was for since production was keeping everything confidential.

How long have you been trained in martial arts?

I started training in martial arts in 2012. It has always been a great outlet for me mentally and physically. I started with Tae Kwon do, and then found a kung fu school that has been my sanction. The goal is to be a black belt in both arts. I still have ways to go with training, forms, and flexibility but I love it!
