renovation work of old temple complex and widening of the passage
leading to the holy cave at
Adhkunwari, the same will remain
closed for Darshans for the next
one month.
India for talks on Cross-LoC
CBMs amid standoff with Pak
NEW DELHI, Jan 28 (Agencies):
India has proposed a meeting of the
official-level Joint Working Group
with Pakistan on Cross-LoC CBMs
in the second week of February
amidst continuing stand-off between
the two countries over the arrest of
a Pakistani driver for smuggling narcotics worth Rs 100 crore across
the Line of Control.

more power paying less bills
in comparison to Jammu

As compared to
Jammu division
Kashmir division
continue to consume more power
units and yet it
realises less
power tariff much
to the discomfiture of the senior
power development department authorities.
The Minister in charge power
department informed the state
assembly on Tuesday in 2012-13
Kashmir region consumed 6854.94
(MUs) of power while Jammu region
consumed 5252.72 (MUs).
The division wise details of power
consumption during 2011-12and
2012-13 was sought by the
Panthers Party MLA Harsh Dev
Singh.
It may be mentioned Chief
Minister Omar Abdullah is holding
the charge of the Power department.
In terms of percentage it translates in to 56 per cent power consumption took place in Kashmir
region while the rest i.e 43.34 percent took place in Jammu
The Minister also informed the
lower house that in 2011-12
Kashmir region consumed 6136
(MUs) of power while Jammu region
consumed 4266 (MUs).
In contrast the total power tariff
realised by Jammu region was
1005.29 crores while 691.87 was
recovered in Kashmir division.
In 2011-12 Jammu division
accounted 721.32 crores while
Kashmir region accounted for
478.83 crores in 2011-12
The same trend, according to the
power minister, continued in 201011 and 2009-10,official sources
said.
NC-Congress coalition

Addressing a
public meeting at
Kathua, Mufti
said that since its
formation the
National
Conference coalition regime has
systematically
dismantled democratic institutions in the State thus depriving
people of their democratic rights.
He observed that democratic institutions of the State have become first
causality of the wrong policies being
propagated by the present dispensation during the last more than five
years.

said that forthcoming Lok Sabha
elections would be the first stage of
PDP's crusade to set up a new system of justice and equality in J&K.

Fire breaks out on LOC in

Amarnath Yatris get Accident
Insurance cover of 1 lakh
On the instructions of N. N.
Vohra, Governor of Jammu and
Kashmir, who is also the Chairman
of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, all
pilgrims who possess valid Yatra
Permits will be provided an insurance cover of Rs. 1.00 lakh against
accidental death within the State
during the entire period of the Yatra
2014.

J&K Cabinet approved setting
up of 659 new administrative
units in the state
Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet on
Saturday approved setting up of
659 new administrative units in the
state, a proposal pushed by Chief
Minister Omar Abdullah on which he
even considered quitting following
resistance from ally Congress.
"I want to tell the people of
Jammu and Kashmir with happiness that the state Cabinet has
approved the recommendations of
the Cabinet Sub Committee (CSC)
on setting up of 659 new administrative units in the state," Omar told
reporters after the cabinet meeting
here.
Terming the decision as "historic",
the chief minister said that it will
benefit a large number of people in
the state.
Udhampur-Katra rail section
at its final stage despite
delays
After a series of delay, the work
on the 25-km-long railway tracks
between Udhampur and Katra sections is in its final stage, said
Division Railway Manager(DRM), N
C Goel.
The Katra line was expected to
be operational by the end of August
last year as work was going on full
throttle. The date was further
extended to October last year.
"Laying work on 18 km long track
between Kajikund and Banihal in
Jammu and Kashmir is already
complete while the laying work on
Udhampur-Katra section is in its
final stage," Goel said.
While DMUs were already plying
from Banihal to Baramula, he said
that 42-kms-long track between
Fazlika and Abohar had been laid.
"The track was electrified till
Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir.
The work for rail connectivity till
Banihal was going on," he said.
Omar Abdullah raised issue
of Pathribal case with PM
during his Jammu visit
Jammu and Kashmir Chief
Minister Omar Abdullah raised the
issue of closure of the alleged
Pathribal Fake Encounter case by
the Army with Prime Minister
Manmohan Singh and demanded
justice for the kin of the victims.
"Omar Abdullah raised the issue
of closure of the Pathribal case by
the Army and emphasised the need
for giving justice to the families of
the victims and punishment to those
responsible for innocent killings," an
official statement issued after the
meeting said.
