Recently, a group of French students came to our school and stayed in our homes. I conducted an interview with one of them on her experiences so far in America. This interview was carried out the day before they went back to France.
Q: Why did you decide to participate in this exchange?
A: Because I wanted to travel, and expand my knowledge of the language and the culture.
Q: What do you think of the classes?
A: I think that certain classes are too long. Also, I think it would be much more practical to have one fixed class- less moving around, rather than moving from class to class every 80 minutes. And, I don’t think jag is necessary. Some of the teachers use it to do more work, rather than let the students rest. A recess would be nice.
Q: What do you think of the cafeteria food?
A: It’s a bit too expensive for its quality, and it isn’t very good.
Q: What do you think of the school?
A: It’s very big and well kept. Also, the classrooms are nicely decorated.
Q: What do you think of Washington?
A: In Washington, there are lots of beautiful things to see, but a lot of the buildings under repair.
Q: What are the most striking differences (and similarities) you have noticed between France and America?
A: America looks very much like France. There are lots of monuments, and the landscape is almost the same. However, the school system is very different.
