Figure 3: the sites selected for this study and the traps assigned number. Map created using Digimap. Identification of footprints was conducted using the identification sheet provided by the trap pack, as found in appendix B, together with guidance provided in works published by Ratz (1997) and Pepe (2018). presence/ absence was recorded for each trap. Percentage of page coverage per species were estimated and an average was found per trap per day. As statistical analysis focused on comparing data collected from two shrub types (T. baccata and R. ponticum) either a 2-sample T-test or Mann-Whitney test shall be used, depending on if data collected is normally distributed or not, allowing for parametric or non-parametric testing. Results A total of 10 species were found during this study, these prints can be seen in figure 4, labelled A-J. Prints A are from the Wood Mouse (Apodemus sylvaticus) B the domestic cat, (Felis catus) C from the brown rat, Rattus norvegicus, D from mink (Neovison vison) and E consisted of the domesticated dog (Canis familiaris). F-J consisted of the grey squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis), Polecat (Mustela putorius), Hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus), waterfowl and an unnkown mustelid, possible it is a Weasel (Mustela nivalis) or Stoat (Mustela erminea) which have both been recorded in the area previously (NBN Atlas, 2014 and NBN Atlas, 2016).
