I was also grateful for the opportunity that the conference presented for engaging with the work of the
postgraduate community at Keele. From the poster presentations, bake my doctorates and three-minute thesis’
presented on the day, it is clear that Keele has an immensely talented and vibrant postgraduate community.
Seeing the diversity of the presentations has allowed me to consider ways in which I might make my own
research more interesting and accessible to a non-specialist audience - in particular, I am interested to
attempt to bake my own doctorate next year, and am already considering how to interpret eighteenth-century
Arthurianism in the form of cake!
Attending and presenting at ‘Disrupting Disciplines’ was an extremely valuable experience. It gave me an
opportunity to consider the knowledge that I have gained to date, and the confidence to consider myself as
someone who has specialist knowledge of my subject that others may be interested in hearing. The discussions
that I took part in were helpful and stimulating, and the presentations on the day were illuminating and
allowed me to think about the interdisciplinary connections that exist between different research strands.
