AORTIC ANEURYSM MORPHOLOGY
Aortic Aneurysm Angle : The angle between the axis of suprarenal aorta and the infrarenal neck was 165 degrees ( absent , score of 0 ).
Aortic Aneurysm Thrombus and calcification : Unlike in vivo medical imaging , such as computed tomographic angiography ( CTA ), it was difficult to assess the presence of intraluminal thrombus in a prepared cadaver . It is not possible to accurately assess the intraluminal thrombus in a post mortem embalmed cadaver . The aneurysm wall was sporadically calcified .
Aneurysm Branch Vessels : The main branches coming from the aneurysm itself were the inferior mesenteric artery , four left lumbar arteries and three right lumbar arteries . In addition , two left and one right accessory renal arteries were present ( moderate , score of 2 ) [ Figure 3 ].
Figure 3 : Close up on the distal neck . The AAA did not involve the common iliac arteries . Notice the red marker placed in the origin of the inferior mesenteric artery .
