smartphone or tablet that can take a single lead ECG reading in 30 seconds . The reading is taken when the patient applies their fingertips to the monitoring device , so there is no need to remove any clothing and the equipment can be used virtually anywhere . The project aim is to critically explore whether the introduction of Alivecor Kardia can improve the ECG monitoring for patients prescribed antipsychotic medication in one Adult Community Mental Health Team . A literature search will be carried out to identify all papers on Alivecor Kardia and QT interval measurement , a critical appraisal of all relevant papers will then be undertaken to establish whether the evidence base to support the use of this device to accurately measure QT interval . Other factors will also be explored including cost , data security , and training needs in order to identify potential barriers to implementation of this device in clinical practice . The project will be implemented using a Plan Do Study Act model ( NHS England , 2021 ) and will be repeated for a minimum of three cycles so that any unexpected issues that arise can be considered and addressed . Training will be provided on how to use the device , and the medication management guidelines will also be covered to ensure that all medics are aware of the monitoring requirements . An initial audit will be carried out to ascertain the level of compliance with medication management guidelines for all patients currently prescribed antipsychotic medication and this will be repeated monthly and reviewed in the medical staff meeting . If successful , the project will be expanded to include other teams .
