Quarterback Jameis Winston went 7-for-9
passing for 97 yards and a touchdown in the
Buccaneers’ preseason-opening 17-9 loss to
the Philadelphia Eagles last Thursday night.
Winston’s touchdown pass of 26-yards went to
Russell Shepard, who led the Bucs with three
receptions for 62 yards.
Winston also lost a first-quarter fumble on
a sack by Eagles defensive lineman Fletcher
Cox, setting up a short field for a Philadelphia
touchdown three plays later.
Running back Doug Martin, who gashed the
Jaguars defense in the 2015 regular season
with 123 yards and two touchdowns, ran five
times for 13 yards.
Defensively, rookie free agent linebacker Luke
Rhodes recorded a team-high five tackles,
while safety Isaiah Johnson intercepted
Eagles rookie quarterback Carson Wentz in the
third quarter.
