The Baptist Missionary Association Theological Seminary seeks to assist qualified individuals by equipping them for Christian service and leadership roles. The seminary supports the educational needs of the Baptist Missionary Association of America and other groups who share a like commitment to the authority of Scripture.
The BMA Seminary began in 1955 as a division of Jacksonville College. In 1957, the seminary held its first fall semester classes on the current seminary grounds located at 1530
East Pine Street in Jacksonville. The seminary graduated its first class of students in May 1958.
The BMA Seminary has grown from an average enrollment of dozens to about 150 credit-seeking students each semester prior to COVID. Students typically represent approximately 15 states, 15 foreign countries and 10 different Christian denominations.
An additional 250 students regularly take courses for non-credit each semester as well. Pastors, teachers, laypersons and others may enroll in courses for personal enrichment.
With the addition of Master of Arts-Disciple Making, the seminary now offers seven academic degrees, including Associate of Divinity,
Bachelor of Arts in Religion, Master of Arts( Religion), Master of Arts( Pastoral Theology), Master of Arts in Church Ministries, and the Master of Divinity.
The seminary’ s accreditations are from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges for degrees at each level( associate, bachelor, and master) and for Master’ s degrees, an additional accreditation by the Association of Theological Schools Commission on Accrediting.
The BMA Seminary has been recognized for its online and distance education. Most recently,“ intelligent. com” recognized BMA as“ Best for Pastoral Studies” in its Top 50 Master’ s in Theology Degree Programs for 2025. In
2024, OnlineU. org ranked BMA Seminary # 4 as Most Affordable Online Master’ s Degrees in Theology and # 4 for Best Online Master’ s in Theology Degrees.

The Jacksonville College Jaguar sports program offers eight teams including men’ s and women’ s golf, soccer, cross country, and track and field. The Jacksonville College Jaguars include top ranked athletes and teams that frequently compete for national championships. LVNs who wish to further their education and increase their earning
potential can join the LVN-RN transition program at TJC Jacksonville where they can earn an Associate of Applied Science degree.
Graduates of the program are prepared to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses. Successful completion of the NCLEX-RN provides the professional
credentials to practice as a registered nurse.
RNs have an expanded set of duties such as coordinating care, educating the public about various health conditions, providing advice and emotional support to individuals and their family members, and management and delegation within the healthcare environment
. They are frequently employed in hospital settings and the median annual salary in Texas for an RN is $ 79,830.
TJC’ s Jacksonville program runs 18 months and accepts 48 students each term.
