• Cherokee Ranch Golf Club:
The Cherokee Ranch Golf Club is a public golf course that was built in 1936 and is a par 71 course located on the east side of Jacksonville. It’ s rolling landscape offers unique challenges. The golf club also offers six pickleball courts for members and guests. The pickleball courts were a renovation of the existing tennis courts completed in 2024.
• Lake Jacksonville: The city is completing improvements to the Lake Jacksonville recreational area with funding assistance from a Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Boating Access Grant, Already open to the public are new boat slips, ramp lanes and fueling station. The new restroom facility was nearing completion, as of October, with the project expected to be substantially complete by the end of the year. Enhancements also include a new swimming pier and a new mooring pier with a wheelchair lift. The campgrounds remain, with grass sites, shelters, RV pads and combination RV pads and shelters available.
• Jacksonville Parks: The numerous Jacksonville parks offer a wide range of activities – from basketball and tennis to Frisbee golf and splash pads.
Lincoln Park renovations were completed in 2025, with the addition of all-ability play equipment, exercise equipment, concrete walking path and a splash pad. Other amenities include basketball and tennis courts, pavilions and updated restroom facilities.
Concerts can now be held in Hazel Tilton Park. Improvements to the park included construction of a covered stage and wall along the north side, bordering U. S. 79. Overhead utilities were moved underground, allowing for the removal of three utility poles near the center of the park.
Exercise equipment, funded by a donation from the Jacksonville Kiwanis Club, was ordered as an addition to Buckner Park.
The city expected delivery in early December, with a tentative completion date before the new year.
The Jacksonville park system also includes Bolton Park, Love Street Park, Nellie Crim Park and Nichols Green Park, each with their own amenities.
