Jacksonville College was established in 1899 – today it is the only Christian Junior College in the state of Texas .
The private two-year liberal arts college provides the following advantages :

The Baptist Missionary Association Theological Seminary began in 1955 as a division of Jacksonville College . In 1957 , the seminary held its first fall semester classes on the current seminary grounds and in May 1958 , the seminary graduated its first class of students .
BMA Seminary has grown from an average enrollment of dozens to 150 credit-seeking students over the past five years , excluding the affects of COVID-19 in 2020 . Students typically represent approximately 15 states , 15 foreign countries , and ten different Christian denominations .
Regularly , an additional 80 students also take courses for noncredit each semester . Pastors , teachers , laypersons , and others can enroll in courses for personal enrichment .
The seminary currently offers six academic degrees : Associate of Divinity , Bachelor of Arts in Religion , Master of Arts ( Religion ), Master of Arts ( Pastoral Theology ), Master of Arts in Church Ministries , and the Master of Divinity .
The seminary ’ s accreditation includes that of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges for degrees at each level ( associate , bachelor , and master ). Masters ’ degrees also have accreditation by the Association of Theological Schools Commission on Accrediting .
BMA Seminary has been recognized for its online and distance education . Most recently , “ intelligent . com ” recognized BMA as “ Best for Pastoral Studies ” in its Top 50 Master ’ s in Theology Degree Programs for 2021 . OnlineU . org ranked BMA Seminary # 2 as Most Affordable Master ’ s in Theology Online in 2020 .
